Brilliant Baobab Oil

Baobab Oil is an African wonder and originates from the fruit of the Baobab Tree.

This ancient and exotic ‘Tree of Strength’, is native to Madagascar, Southern Africa and even regions of Australia.  Not easy to miss, the unusual looking tree is also known as the Upside Down Tree – as it’s spindly branches resemble roots, growing from its massive trunk.

The Baobab tree has many uses. Indigenous people enjoy eating the leaves, drinking the juice from the large woody fruit (also called monkey-bread) and living beneath the shelter of the massive branches.  Even the bark of the tree has fibres strong enough to wind into rope and clothing.

With so many benefits it’s hard to believe we haven’t even touched on the best part.  The oil is extracted from the seeds found within the fruit pods, this oil is traditionally (and in best practice), removed through cold pressing.  Simple pressure is used to remove the oils which are then filtered and immediately bottled. No heat is applied which could destroy some, if not most of the goodness of such a nutrient-rich oil.

It is this golden oil, rich in vitamins, minerals, essential omega fatty acids and nutrients that we are most interested in.

Baobab Oil has been used in skincare rituals and body products for centuries.  The oil contains high percentages of Vitamins A, C, D, E & F. It also boasts containing Omega Oils 3,6 & 9 which are essential fatty acids and antioxidants, working to fight free radicals and maintain healthy skin and hair.

Can you believe it also contains excellent amounts of magnesium, potassium and calcium?

Omega Fatty acids are vital – our bodies are not able to produce them, so we need to replenish constantly.  They are easily depleted through overexposure to the sun, poor health or immune systems and ageing. Fatty acids also help ‘waterproof’ the skin, which means that they prevent toxic substances from entering our cells.

So much love for Omega Oil Fatty Acids!

The Endless Benefits of Baobab Oil for skin:

  • Baobab oil is cicatrizant, which means it promotes the healing of a wound.
  • It is also noncomedogenic which means it will not clog pores.
  • A potent moisturiser, due to the dense collection of vitamins/minerals.
  • It absorbs quickly into the skin and will not leave you feeling greasy.
  • Baobab is also known to trigger hair growth, assisting with bald patches.
  • Unlike many other oils, once absorbed, Baobab Oil does not dissipate for some time, which means that all those wonderful oils sit snuggly, just beneath the surface of the skin and work their magnificent magic.
  • Baobab helps improve the elasticity of the skin.
  • It encourages skin regeneration.
  • Strengthens and helps regulate skin cell function.
  • Help stop toxic substances from entering the skin – forming a kind of waterproof coating.
  • Baobab oil can help greatly with very dry skin or dry skin patches.
  • Helps with improving the quality of thinning skin.
  • Helps relieve and heal bruising.
  • Helps with diminishing sunspots.
  • It also helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
  • The above all prove what a wonderful Anti-Ageing oil Baobab is.

This list of benefits is extremely powerful. (each benefit is an article in itself)
